SRM University, Chennai is a deemed university located in the city of Chennai. Initially, SRM University was known as SRM Engineering College and was established in 1985 under the University of Madras.
When it earned the status of deemed status, the name was changed to SRM Institute of Science and Technology and later when it became a full-fledged University, the name was again changed to SRM University. SRM stands for Sri Ramaswami Memorial.
Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra
